At an international ministers’ conference in March of 2003, there was a call for Pastors willing to relocate to the USA. Pastor Adebisi attended the conference and so he volunteered. He did so, believing that there was an existing parish in need of a pastor but reality dawned when he arrived in September of the same year. He was told that there was no existing church with a vacancy and the need was for someone to pioneer a parish in Washington DC. Everything from workers to ministers and members would need to be raised from the start. The church had to start and stand on its own.
Seeing this as a test of faith, Pastor Adebisi determined that if God had indeed called him, he would definitely make a way for the church. God sent a woman who volunteered to transport him through the city of DC for the registration and the search for a church meeting location.
The church started in DC with a registered office at suite 600 1717 K Street NW DC where it had a time share of two hours on Sundays. At this point the congregation consisted of the Pastor and one family. At the end of one month the church moved into the basement of a house in Laurel. Four families joined in and the church continued like a house fellowship. During February and March of 2004 the church met at the Ramada Inn on New York Avenue and by the end of March 2004 the church moved to 4000 13th Street NW DC. Attendance grew from eight adults and one child to about twenty members and in October 2004 God moved the Church to 5559 South Dakota Avenue NE, DC. God brought the Pastor’s family from Nigeria to join him at this season.
Church growth continued as more people joined the Church and very soon, the South Dakota Avenue location seemed too small for the rapidly growing church. In spite of being confronted with many obstacles, God moved the Church to yet another venue. In August 2006 The church moved to 1515 Kenilworth avenue NE DC 20019, as a mark of God’s leading in the new location 70 people were in attendance for the inaugural service. To the glory of God the church acquired a landed property in October 2014, the church began building in October 2018 and completed the building in May of 2020. The new property is the House of His Glory on 1625 Olive street NE Dc 20019.
We believe that the best is yet to come and that the real work has yet to begin. New Wine Assembly DC is a solution center and a miracle ground. God has wrought many mighty things in our midst, including miraculous healings from terminal illnesses, the transformation of many lives and the salvation of many souls. We know that there are people to impact for God and lives that need changing. We will not relent nor will we be tired until His will is done in ours and these lives; in Washington DC and in every city of the world. Our strength is in the scripture that says “…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6 [NIV].
